And Tonight's Gonna Be a Good Night...

Nothing Save the Limit of Sight

"...I know you are reading this poem
In a room where too much has happened for you to bear
where the bedclothes lie in stagnant coils on the bed
and the open valise speaks of flight
but you cannot leave yet. I know you are reading this poem
as the underground train loses momentum and before running
up the stairs
toward a new kind of love
your life has never allowed...

...I know you are reading this poem listening for something, torn
between bitterness and hope
turning back once again to the task you cannot refuse.
I know you are reading this poem because there is nothing else left to read
there where you have landed, stripped as you are...."

Fortunately For Me...

my college almuni events are sometimes held at the home of the Swiss ambassador. For real. And that provides nice opportunities to wear shoes.

ps. Yes, I did get to meet the Swiss Ambassador.

The Loves of My Life

There have been two great love affairs in my life, both still ongoing. First, there was the love of shoes. I. Love. Shoes. I wish I had more. I wish I had more opportunities to wear other shoes aside from sneakers. Shoes shoes shoes shoes shoes. The second great love affair is travel. It really makes sense. Shoes, travel. They need each other. Nomads need shoes. Shoes are ways to travel. Shoes are memories of travel. Shoes travel shoes travel shoes travel. This particular pair is one of my favorites. SHOES FROM VENICE. aaaaah.

Ugly Duckling

"Then he felt quite ashamed, and hid his head under his wing; for he did not know what to do, he was so happy, and yet not at all proud. He had been persecuted and despised for his ugliness, and now he heard them say he was the most beautiful of all the birds. Even the elder-tree bent down its bows into the water before him, and the sun shone warm and bright. Then he rustled his feathers, curved his slender neck, and cried joyfully, from the depths of his heart, "I never dreamed of such happiness as this, while I was an ugly duckling"

Fratello... again.

so... the reason why i take so many pictures of my brother is because a) i'm around him the most. b) he's not annoyingly camera shy. c) he's ridiculously good looking.

Wall of Failed Endeavors

Yup. Here is represented three huge things that we have devoted our lives to. All of which have crashed and burned and died not with a bang but with a whimper. So here's to you, Storm Bros, Church, and Cipriano's. You brought us here and I'm glad to be here, but that doesn't mean I like the road you took us on.

Everybody Knows

...it sucks to grow up.
And everybody does
so weird to be back here.
Let me tell you what
the years go on
and we're still fighting it
we're still fighting it...

While We're On The Subject...

I get so depressed when I log onto facebook and see all my friends at Oktoberfest, and now everyone is on Academic Travel. Erik tried to help me feel better by recreating a typical Oktoberfest scene. Someone slightly sloshed, raising a stein.

Unfortunately, I'd still rather like to be on Academic Travel right now.

Well I thought about the army, Dad said...

I Miss You, Prof. Stanford

This photo reminds me of a photo I took for my digital photography class and Prof. Stanford really liked it. Brian Stanford, You are the man of my dreams. Please say "broadway boogie woogie," "aluminum," and "rather kinky ladies" all in one sentence please. Your accent alone would make me listen to you for hours, and that doesn't even include all of the beautiful things you would talk about. Le sigh.

Both of Us

Species Confusion

Marge thinks she's a person. She sits on your lap the way that a child would, and now she stands. Margerine is crazy.

Happy Monthaversary

Looming Spirits

Dead sunflowers all standing together in a field is one of the creepiest sights possibly ever.

It's like when new leaves suddenly die on a tree so that the trees look like children with grey hair but much much worse.

It's like a holocaust memorial.

They're just standing there dead.

But my little brother didn't seem to think so. He thought they helped him channel Elvis. I guess this is just another lesson about how what we see is not simply given.
